How to cancel Audible

Audible has one rule that outranks the cancel steps: spend your credits first. Unused credits are typically forfeited when a membership ends, and cancelling with three credits banked is like leaving three audiobooks on the table.

Before you cancel

1. Check your credit balance in your Audible account.
2. Spend every credit; the books they buy are yours to keep after cancellation, in your library forever.
3. Then cancel.

Cancelling Audible

1. Sign in at audible.com (or your regional Audible site) in a browser; the membership controls are on the website, not in the iOS app.
2. Open your account details, then the membership section.
3. Choose Cancel membership and click through the retention offers to confirm.

Membership benefits run to the end of the paid period. Your purchased library survives; the monthly credit stops.

Consider pausing instead

If the problem is a backlog rather than the service, Audible offers a plan pause for a few months, from the same membership area or via support. A pause keeps your credits and member pricing without new charges; just remember it resumes on its own, the same way free trials convert, so note the resume date somewhere that will actually remind you.

Worth knowing

• If you subscribed to Audible through Apple, it cancels in Settings, your name, Subscriptions like any Apple-billed subscription.
• Audible retention offers are famously generous: a few months at a steep discount is commonly on the exit path. Take it only if you’d genuinely use it; a discounted subscription you don’t use is still money per year, just less of it.
